Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Edgbaston

Chung Ying

16-18 Wrottesley St, Birmingham China Town, Birmingham B5 4RT, UK – 0121 622 5669

It is a mid point stop from London toward Manchester. Would be good to find a Chinese restaurant for dim sum lunch. Very packed, but we managed to find a place. Parking is convenient, right outside the restaurant has plenty of room. Dim sum is of standard, we didn't order main courses. The price is good although we plan to spend more.

This is definitely one of the best Chinese Birmingham. I saw a good friend at this restaurant which was a nice coincidence. He said that it was very nice as well saying that the other prawn and crab meat dumplings was a speciality and a must try. My favourite was the soup dumplings and the chicken feet. The exterior of the restaurant was really nice and the interior was well furnished. The staff were friendly and the toilets are decent. Overall the restaurant was really nice and I would return again. Highly recommend it.

Simpsons Restaurant

20 Highfield Rd, Birmingham B15 3DU, UK – 0121 454 3434

Simply amazing food and service. Only minor downside is we had trouble understanding the explanation of our food from the waiters. This didn't detract though. Food was amazing.

Delicious way to spend an afternoon. Took a leisurely stroll through the lunchtime tasting menu and was rewarded with almost 4 hours of relaxing atmosphere and incredible food and drink. Thoroughly enjoyed our time here, worth every penny for such quality and service

Adam's Restaurant

New Oxford House, 16 Waterloo St, Birmingham B2 5UG, UK – 0121 643 3745

Went with a friend for dinner. We pretty much ordered everything: tasting menu, additional courses, and two selections of wine pairing. Food was great of course, and the waiter has sufficient knowledge for the wine which was undoubtedly a pleasant experience. However I probably expected more creativity in the dishes. Being a foodie who tend to try nice and different cuisines globally, I personally think there was a lack of wow factor. It was definitely worth trying but I don’t feel the urge to go back, especially with the price I paid.

I was fortunate enough to be taken here for my birthday for the tasting menu. It was simply great. Although I felt the drinks were quite expensive, perhaps this is normal for other Michelin star restaurants, we are definitely hoping to return. The taster menu was so much more than what we expected, in terms for flavours and experiences. We still tell every one about Adam's whenever we mention amazing food. The staff were helpful without being intrusive, very attentive. Thanks to all at Adams for making our visit so special.
