Local Chambers of Commerce for B15 2TT. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!
Birmingham Town Hall

Victoria Square, Birmingham B3 3DQ, UK – 0121 780 3333

I came here last year in December for the Geeta Brothers concert. The hall inside is very spacious and the seats are comfy. We sat through 3 hours and had a break mid way. It was a bit difficult finding the toilets and the drinks are pricey. There are different entrances inside and it helps finding these when it gets busy.

Birmingham Christmas Market 2017. This event is one of the best, mainly German fare, Christmas markets in the UK. Be brave & try some good old fashioned bartering for Christmas gifts ~ some beautifully unique items to more affordable gifts. Plenty of Bratwurst & mulled wine to go round plus the market stretches along the main shopping street so coffee at Costa or a tasty baguette at Subway are all there amongst best UK's high street stores. Singing reindeer! German beers. Intricate glass globes & cosy suede moccasins. German candle carousel's, confectionery & 'nuts & bolts' characters are all here. From bargains to luxury goods. Guaranteed to get you into the Christmas spirit!

Dental Surgeries

Edgbaston Dental Centre

127 Pershore Rd, Birmingham B5 7NX, UK – 0121 440 2751

Best dentist I've to! Most notably Dr Sodha, he really does go the extra mile to make sure you are comfortable during procedures and treats your teeth like his own, so results have been great so far! He has a lot of patience and happy to answer questions in an effective matter. Consequently, I would really recommend this dentist to people. Great service, can't fault it!

Another visit to this practice again today and again a most pleasurable visit. My dentist Kieran and the dental nurse are amazing. I've always had a massive fear of the dental chair, but found myself nodding off today I was that relaxed. My teeth are looking fantastic and I'm so happy with it all. A big thankyou all again and keisha you are amazing and actually care about the people who attend your clinic.

Cottams Dental Practice

1 St Peter's Rd, Birmingham B17 0AT, UK – 0121 428 2824

I would highly recommend this dental practice. I have been using them for over 5 years now!!! Especially good with gum hygiene and orthodontist treatment

The best NHS dentist, feels like a private clinic!

The Dental Surgery

213 Harborne Ln, Birmingham B29 6SS, UK – 0121 472 1525

I have been a patient here for over 20 years, during which time I have had children who now also come here. I have always found Daniel to be a very good dentist who doesn't do unnecessary treatment but what he does is done very well.

I had to book an appointment here due to a dental emergency, as my usual dentist is based in South London. The practice is small but staff are friendly and attentive, and I felt comfortable and cared for throughout (despite not being the biggest fan of visiting a dentist!). Will happily return to this practice in future during term time in Birmingham.

Hockley Medical Practice

Great Doctor's practice, modern, light, has a pharmacy attached. The staff are great, the doctors are good, really talk to you about your problems and what the best course of action is. Massive difference compared to my last Doctor's. Thank you to all the staff for making this such a good place to visit.

All the staff at this practice are respectful and polite. They always try their best to help with any problems. My extended family and I cannot recommend them more highly. Keep up the good work!

Attended to me on time and I am happy with the service as when I phone in I am able to make an appointment as soon as possible I have never had a problem - receptionists are all very polite and easy to communicate with. Also those who have had a problem with the service maybe you should tell the receptionists to cancel appointments at least 24 hours before as they can make appointments for people who are willing to make it to the surgery- stop complaining as you are not working there and are not aware of how the surgery works🙄

Moseley Medical Centre

21 Salisbury Rd, Birmingham B13 8JS, UK – 0121 449 0122

This has been my doctors for nearly two years and I've had no real issues here. The staff seem friendly enough and as far as I'm aware the doctors fine, I've had no reason to seek second opinions. The 4* is due to the difficulty there can be in getting an appointment, this is possibly a normal issue with doctors, however, a 5* would be exceptional, so it is a 4

hospital wonderful caring staff, doctors and surgeons. My op went smoothly and very pleased with the whole service. Nice and helpful staff. Thanks everyone.

I attended the Priory hospital for the removal of kidney stones. I would like to say a big thank You to ALL the staff. Catering facilities and staff, fantastic and the care by all the consultants, doctors and nursing staff was exceptional. I have attended alternative private hospitals previously for the same procedure and the difference in quality of all round care was superb. Many thanks again to everyone.

BMI The Edgbaston Hospital

22 Somerset Rd, West Midlands, Birmingham B15 2QQ, UK – 0121 456 2000

Arrived at the hospital for my pre op assessment, which was done effectively and efficiently. The nurses was very helpful and informative. Arrived the following morning for my operation which was carried out better than expected unfortunately I had to stay a couple of nights to which staff was over accommodating to me and my partner as we had travelled over 2 hours he was allowed to stay in the room with me and provided with blankets, meals and cushions. The hospital has great facilities in the rooms and was kept immaculate throughout my stay.

Some excellent nursing staff . where some went out of there way to care for you

Birmingham Treatment Centre

Always treated with respect, privacy and treatment tailored to meet own specific requirements.

Edgbaston Old Church

Church Rd, Birmingham B15 3TA, UK – 0121 454 5439

I first visited in the early 1990s to see the grave of Joseph Henry Shorthouse, author of "John Inglesant", which has been called the greatest religious novel in English literature. No one there knew where he and his wife are buried, but someone kindly checked the registers and located their graves near the porch entrance. I see he is still not listed on the web site, and that saddens me. So some church member, please read the novel and photograph the grave, and post it on the web site. You might also get a copy of "J Henry Shorthouse, author of 'John Inglesant' by Charles W Spurgeon. Shorthouse's novel, set in the days of his late majesty, Charles I, earned Spurgeon a PhD from the University of London. The doctoral dissertation does not matter; what matters to me is that St Bartholomew's is still neglecting one of their very worthy saints. You have a beautiful church building, and I hope the spirit of your congregation is as beautiful!

We love this church! The congregation are the best in Birmingham. They really mean it when they say that all are welcome! Children are particularly welcome (although there aren't many of us with children) our children would absolutely love there to be more youngsters. You have got to hear Alison Joyce give a sermon - she is awesome!

Local Restaurants & Places to Eat around Edgbaston

Buonissimo Restaurant Birmingham

1 Albany Rd, Birmingham B17 9JX, UK – 0121 426 2444

This place is sweet and charming. The staff are lovely. The issue I have is that the vegetarian options are very very cheese heavy - I speculate a lot of that cheese is probably not vegetarian (contains rennet). So wishing to avoid the cheese I had a fish dish. This fish was beautifully cooked but came with some very sad looking vegetables - broccoli and carrots that wouldn't look out of place in a carvery. The menu could do with a revamp for summer with lighter meals and salads.

Outstanding restaurant! Everything we ordered was excellent - the seafood risotto, in particular, was just delectable! Each bite had a brilliant depth of flavour and authenticity to Italian cuisine. To top it all off the customer service was a dream come true - absolutely made our day! Everyone from the manager to the waiting staff had lovely energy contributing to the brilliant atmosphere of this gem of a restaurant. Can't wait to come back!

The Warehouse Cafe

54-57 Allison St, Birmingham B5 5TH, UK – 0121 633 0261

An incredible vegan cafe! I honestly didn't think vegan food could taste this good! Went for Sunday Lunch and it was delightful. Very quick and friendly table service, food arrived swiftly and are huge portions for the price. I very much recommend this place for a nice meal or raven just a coffee in the chilled ambience.

Great vegetarian cafe. Good menu with lots of options. I had the Buddha bowl, which was delicious. The fruit and veggies were all fresh and the various beans and grains went well together. Nice interior and nice staff.

Asha's

12-22 Newhall St, Birmingham B3 3LX, UK – 0121 200 2767

Very nice food. The items I had seemed to have a North Indian influence and were lovely, but pricey. The welcome is not as warm as I would expect from this brand and price level. It seems very rushed and could be improved. For this price level, I would expect some level of conversation and not just order taking. As mentioned the food, drinks (including mocktails which my kids loved) and desserts were lovely, but be prepared for your wallet to take a hammering.

I’m a peoples person. I care and want them to care “have you been here before” is an important thing for me to hear. It opens up conversions and comfortability with the waiter. That was lacking, I never even got a name. They (two different people) came to take the order and left. The guy talked fast and mumbled THE FOOD. That being said food was fantastic and that is the reason for a 4 rating. It was flavorful and filling. More than enough to eat with a bowl of rice and curry

Nursery and Preschools

Selly Oak Nursery School

26 Tiverton Rd, Birmingham B29 6BP, UK – 0121 472 1700

Amazing nursery! Children were ahead of the curriculum when ready for reception. They care deeply for all families while going above and beyond to ensure every child has the best start to their education in a areas, maths, art, forest school, English all children leave with maths and writing skills

When I initially applied for my son to have a place at Selly Oak Nursery School, it was because it was an outstanding rated nursery and I wanted my precious 3-4 year old little boy to have the best start to his educational life as possible. What struck me as unique about the nursery was its clear emphasis on education for the future, whilst at the same time nurturing each child in the present as an individual who could be all that they choose to be. I was not looking for a nursery, I was looking for a lot more than that. I was looking for a nursery school, and as such wanted a place that was more than just a childcare provider and that offered my son the structure in education that he would need to prepare for the transition to Primary School. I had been continually impressed since his admission to the nursery with the staff, activities, learning opportunities and care given to my son. Before he began at the nursery he was a very different child; he was incredibly shy, barely talking much at all to anyone outside of his family group, and slightly delayed in his speech and communication. What I wanted for him was a place he could call his own, where he would learn for the future and be part of an inclusive community of children and teachers. This wonderful place provided him with that in the bucket load, and I will always be grateful for that. He is now a 5-year-old who has almost finished Reception at an outstanding primary school, who is confident both in terms of the rigours of phonics and mathematics, but also importantly with himself as an individual. The nursery gave him the chance to know what it is to be part of a school community, one where he was cared for in a genuinely positive and encouraging way, and gave him the chance to flourish. Selly Oak Nursery School turned my little boy from a child that was introverted, shy, and anxious, to a child that is supremely confident, infectiously curious, and incredibly keen to learn. The nursery embraced anything that interested my son, and opened his eyes to so many new interests ranging from minibeasts, 3D shape drawing, mud kitchens, bread making, role play, sitting down and reading stories, construction... I am so proud of him, but more importantly he is proud of himself, which is such a happy thing for me to see. My child would not have flourished half as much in a structured Primary School environment (where he is now meeting and exceeding expectations) if it were not for the approach Selly Oak Nursery School took with him and his learning – so much so that my youngest daughter will be attending the Nursery School in September. This place is more than just its outstanding OFSTED report; it is an outstanding community of teachers, parents and children, with a strong belief in the importance of education for all children. I wouldn’t recommend anywhere else.

Harborne Primary School

Station Rd, Birmingham B17 9LU, UK – 0121 464 2705

Today, with my business Immersive Theatres, I delivered a 5m digital planetarium experience to 90 Year 5 pupils at Harborne Primary School. I was warmly welcomed by the staff and found the hall prepared just as I had requested. The afternoon was well organised with all groups arriving on time. The excited but well-behaved students enjoyed a rich selection of content: peering up at the planetarium night sky, visiting the International Space Station, handling a meteorite and travelling through a future colonised Solar System. Thank you Harborne Primary for a very pleasant visit.

A high achieving school with profession staff.

Public & Preparatory Schools

King Edward's School

Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham B15 2UA, UK – 0121 472 1672

I have two sons at the school and both have benefited from the academic focus the school provides and the opportunity to develop both intellectually and socially. For a provincial day school, its outlook is remarkably non-parochial. It fosters a tolerant and almost international outlook. It has yet to reach a needs blind admissions system but for a UK school gets close. The fact that it offers a generous assisted places scheme speaks volumes about its ethos and commitment to social mobility and inclusion. It is well known in the Midlands but deserves more national recognition. My boys are lucky and thankfully they realise it.

The best school in England. U have to put ur son in this amazing place!

Since I have been at priory school, I as a person have changed for the better. I now have so much more confidence to get up on stage and found all my hidden talents that before I didn't know I had. I have been at priory school since year 3 and I am now in year 7. Priory school offer loads of amazing activates and opportunities to school productions, sport fixtures, school trips and many, many more. All the staff, teachers and students at Priory are outstanding and pushed all of my potential out of me and made the best of me. I have made life long friends that I will never forget and memories that will last life time. I have enjoyed many years and amazing memories at priory and can't wait for the next years to come. Maddie Y7 student

I've not even been here a year and I love it. All the teachers are nice. All the lessons are fun and I really enjoy them. There are small things the school can improve on e.g. The way we pay for food. They are not things to worry about though. I totally recommend coming here you'll make good friends and enjoy the lessons and all the special events such as preforming arts day. So remember if your looking for a school Priory is one of the best options.
